Quilts and fabrics are inspired by many things. While on a quilting retreat near Jacksonville, Florida, Paula Barnes and Mary Ellen Robison discovered a cute shop, located in an old house in downtown Macclenny. The owner and her brother filled the shop with antiques, primitive décor and made-to-order primitive furniture.
The Bristle Creek Farmhouse Quilt features a Tree of Life center medallion, surrounded by 14 different 6″ blocks, repeated to create their showcase design. Both traditional and triangle paper methods are used to create the quilt, and to simplify the construction process.
Paula spotted an old tattered quilt top being used as a curtain to hide a storage area, and was immediately drawn to the prints used in the quilt. They imagined bits of old clothes and leftover fabrics were probably lovingly pieced
to create it.
The prints in Paula’s new collection, Bristle Creek Farmhouse, were inspired by that antique quilt top. The group features rich greens, blues, browns, reds and gold and a coordinating border stripe.
This project includes the pattern, all fabrics for the top as well as the binding.
