CLASSES AND SPECIAL EVENTS
Beginning Quilting Techniques—Learn what tools suit you best, what fabrics will give your quilt interest and spark; and how to construct a 4 block sampler quilt. You will learn how to cut, piece, appliqué, apply sashings and borders as well as learning to sandwich, quilt and bind your quilt. Machine work is encouraged but hand work is also welcome in this very informative course. 6 regular sessions plus 1 appointment session are included in the course. ($65.00) Tuesdays -- Night Class 6-9pm April 29, May 6, 27, June 3, 17, 24 Thursdays—Day Class 10-1 May 1, 8, 22, June 5, 19, 26
Fun, Fast, Fantastic Quilts (3F) –Introduction --This is a lecture-demo class by ruthie miller for a continuing series of quilts based on the Mary Ellen Hopkins book, “It’s Okay If You Sit On My Quilt”. The class is a prerequisite for the other 3F quilts. It is designed for both beginners and seasoned quilters and will teach the principles necessary to give your quilts the Art School Graduate look. In addition to precision cutting, piecing and pressing techniques you will learn such things as the value of value, the roles that fabrics play in a quilt, design concepts, easy construction techniques and sewing secrets that your mother didn’t teach you plus much, much more. A small quilt will be constructed as a homework assignment to allow you to put into practice what is learned in class. Once this class is under your belt you will be ready to tackle any of the future 3F classes, none of which will ever be repeated. ($35 plus book, supplies and fabric for homework quilt). 3F Quilt #7 UNDER/OVER OVER/UNDER ---Prerequisite: 3F Introduction class. ruthie miller’s next (never to be repeated) design. Three main fabrics, two simple blocks equal one amazing look! Done in conversation prints or sophisticated fabrics this quilt has an interwoven look sure to please any taste. $20 + fabric. May 8th & 22nd. 2-5PM or 6-9 PM.
Appliqué Block-- Construct a surprise appliqué block each session. Your blocks can be from different scraps and fat quarters—or you may choose to use the same fabric grouping for each session and put the blocks into a sampler quilt. We will continue work on simple Baltimore Album blocks and start a new project during this quarter. ($5.00 per session) Tuesday mornings 10-12am, April 1 (catch up day), April 29, May 6. 27. Oil Painting with Sandy Lindfors. A class for beginner to intermediate painters. Learn composition, perspective and "tricks" for making frameable oil paintings during the six sessions. Drawing with Sandy Lindfors This is Drawing 101 where you learn to draw what you see. Instruction covers drawing in almost every aspect. 3F Quilt #8 ACHEY BREAKY HEART Prerequisite: 3F Introduction class. ruthie miller says ”This sweet quilt can be made for your “sweety” in any size. You can use this basic block technique to make quilts using an organized fabric pull or you can use up scraps left over from other projects. ” Take this quilt class now as it will never be repeated. $20 plus fabric and supplies. 2 sessions Thursday afternoons 2-5pm or evening 6-9pm ,June 12th & 26th.

Accidental Landscapes - Come spend a fun afternoon while Sandy Lindfors teaches you how to create small original art pieces for quick gifts. EASY! EASY! EASY! Stress Free Paper Piecing—Learn to easily paper piece your foundation blocks without utilizing special tools and lights. Use up those charm squares & scraps you have been hoarding to make paper pieced blocks with no stress, strain or special tools. It's fun and very easy! A variety of patterns will used in class. KIDS QUILT—We will continue the sewing fun for kids with a great little Pocket quilt. Very young or first time students must be accompanied by adult. ($20.00 + supplies) Saturday, June 28, 1-5pm
Hand Quilting Techniques -- Lee Starr will get you started on the traditional art of hand quilting. Once you learn the basics, be sure to join her hand quilting group on some upcoming Tuesday afternoons. ($12.00 + supplies) Saturday May 31, 1-3 pm

Quilting Without The Dogs--From basic straight line to specialty design quilting used by Barbie in a variety of unique quilts. Through special exercises you will become more comfortable in working without the Dogs. Beginners through advanced students can learn and enjoy this class. ($15.00 + supplies) Thursday, June 19, 6-9 pmCard Trick blocks---learn two different techniques for creating this block, along with simple methods of creating half square, quart square and three-quarter square units! Russian Punch Needle Techniques Begin the process of learning the intricacies of this fine needle work. Barbie is now certified in this technique and will lead you in the process of learning 1, 3, and 6 thread needles, contouring your stitches while you work on several small Punchneedle projects. 2 session ($25 + Supplies) Sunday, May 11 and June 15, 1-5pm
FABRIC ART WORKSHOP SERIES Fiber Art is here to stay! And Progress! Come on out of your box and try some old and new techniques to enhance your fiber art. Beaded Doilies -- We will explore the bead netting technique and create a wonderful miniature bead doily. This technique will be sure to whet your appetite for more beading projects. ($15.00 + supplies) Wednesday, June 25, 1-5pm
Fusible Fibers Butterfly—Learn how to use Angelina, Textiva, and glitter to make your own unique fiber art butterfly. Use it as a broach or add it to your fiber art quilt. ($9.00 + supplies) Friday June 13, 2-5PM
Beaded Ribbon Purse- Enjoy the joys of making a wonderful miniature purse to hide your special treasures. (($15.00 + Complete Kits $15.00) Wednesday May 21 1-5pm
Tatting & Crazy Quilt Club-- Gone Crazy, Crazy Quilting! You will need muslin for the block foundations, and lots of fun fabrics, threads, beads, lace and more. Then we’ll put it out for all to share. We will meet once a month to feed our addiction to these wonderful quilt and stitchery techniques. ($3.00 per session) Sunday, May 4, June 22. Friday Night Social -- It’s a guild meeting without the business part. Sandy Lindfors is your host for the entertainment and games. Show & tell by bringing your finished projects and show off. Laugh and be merry! Each person brings a plate to share. (Free) May 23, June 27, 6-8PM
Cuddly For Comfort -- Come sew, sandwich, quilt, bind for disaster victims and community service as we need to make lots of quilts, tote bags, wheelchair and walker bags, etc. Lots of donated fabrics have come in from individuals and manufacturers. Donations of money for shipping are always welcome. (You are welcome to sit and sew any time the classroom is free on one of the Fabric Art Shop sewing machines.) Special Cuddly sewing sessions will be on Saturday & Sunday afternoons 1-5pm on April 5, 6, 12, 20, 27, May 3, 17, 18, 25, 26, June 1 , 8, 29

Policy for Classes:
Class supply lists normally will be available 14-30 days prior to start date. Classes must be paid in full 4 days prior to class start. Classes may be cancelled with advance notice in the case of emergencies. Under these circumstances, class fees will be refunded. Signup lists will be available immediately. Please be sure to communicate your needs and wishes. Whenever possible I will be happy to special order items I normally do not stock.
